JAMES KEEGAN

Growing up with working class roots in the Northside of Cork City in Ireland, James Keegan prides himself on honesty and integrity. Having played all over the world in some of the best music venues there is, James’ tenacious work ethic has taken him to tour across 16 countries and 40 states across the US, all while remaining the tender age of 22 and being a completely independent artist.
It didn’t just happen overnight though, James began his journey in 2023 playing “Whelans Ones to Watch” - a festival where Irelands most exciting new artists all share the bill and play the iconic venue over a couple of nights. Building off the momentum, James played gigs all around Ireland headlining venues like Whelans, Kenny’s Bar, Cyprus Avenue and DeBarras Folk Club and began building a steady, new audience. This then took James to a bigger stage, playing all over Europe and eventually touring America, playing to thousands of people a night in iconic venues like The House of Blues in New Orleans, First Avenue in Minneapolis and The Florida Theatre in Florida.
His debut EP, Teaching Our Teachers, produced by Christian Best and featuring musicians from Mick Flannery’s band, carries that same grounded character - with acoustic elements opening into more forceful indie and folk territory. His vocal delivery holds both strain and tenderness, as the recordings speak to his lived
experience. Although having grounded acoustic foundations, James opens for a 9 piece prog-metal band touring with metal legend Geoff Tate, opening with just an acoustic guitar and his voice. Fresh from headlining Live at St Luke’s in Cork, James is set to tour the US again next year along with England, Scotland, Wales and Spain. Consistently growing his audience, you can find James’ upcoming dates on the next slide.
